8 Lessons to Live By

Hey, it is almost the end of the year!! Today I am going to talk about 8 lessons I want to live by.

1. Be Yourself
Don't let anyone else change who you are. Always be confident about yourself. No one can choose your life for you.

2. Sleeeeeep
Sleep well so that you have enough energy. Don't stay up late.

3. Be Healthy
Do exercises and eat healthy food. Your body is more important than anything.

4. Be Nice
Be kind to everyone so that people would be nice to you. Learn to be understanding and tolerant.

5.Try Your Best
"Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!"You don't know what you are capable of unless you have tried!

6.Try New Things
"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."Take risks. You might find new interests.

7. Make Friends
Friends can support you and they understand you. They won't let you down when you are upset. It is important that you have some good friends.

8. Be Creative
Think out of the box. Don't be average. Don't be like everyone else. You should have your own thoughts.

Intro for the Night Essay

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” (Lao Tzu) Love gives one power. The loved ones are the reason to move on when someone goes through the darkness. In the Last Book in the Universe, Spaz went on the dangerous path to the Eden to save his beloved sister, Bean. In the Glory Field, Elijah stands up to a white man in order to get money for his grandma. In Night, Elie has transcended his limits to stay alive with his dad. With the strength of love, they all become agents of positive changes. As seen in Spaz, Bean, Elijah's stories, love can help to transform the world for the better.

The Innovation that has Most Transformed the World

Hello guys,

What innovation has most transformed the world?

I think farming certainly is one of the most important innovation. Agriculture is the base of our today's economy. Because of farming, most of the people don't need to look for food. Today, less than 2% of the total US population still live on farms, but they provide more than efficient food for the US. Farming made it possible that people could follow various careers. All thanks to farming, we can do whatever we want without worrying about starvation.

The Pressing Issues

Hello guys,
The seeds of reform have been sowed in American during the Progressive movement, but there are still some pressing issues that everyone cares about. Among them, I think the 3 most pressing issues today are education reform, FDA regulation, and environmental protection.

I think educational reform is very important because education could potentially decide our future. The future would belong to the children, and if many of them are not well-educated they would not be able to help reform the world. Today, colleges in America are very expensive, and not everyone could afford it. I think it is not fair for the people that are smart enough but not rich enough not to get  a higher education.

I think FDA regulation is one of the pressing issues because the food we eat is directly related to our health. I hope the food we eat is safe and we don't need to worry about food poison. People in America can access to drugs, and I don't think it should be that way. I believe drugs should be banned completely.

Environmental protection is a pressing problem. Research has shown that air pollution could cause lung disease and even cancer. Pollution threatens the health of humans as well as animals. It is our job to protect the environment and make sure our industrial revolution would not backfire.

My Hope to Transform in the World

Hello folks,
What is it your hope to transform in the world?

I hope there is more love on this planet. I think that the world would be a better place if we help each other more instead of fighting each other. I hope that everyone could care for strangers in need as their families. People would not only think about themselves, but also others. I hope the whole world is just like a big family, and we all aim to make the world a better place. When a group of people is in trouble, people all over the world would be willing to help. I know it is not very realistic, but I do wish it can come true someday.

The Most Courageous Person I Know

Hi guys,
Today I am going to talk about the most courageous person I know. But first let's talk about what it means to be courageous. I think being courageous means to pursue what one believes, what one thinks is right, no matter how hard it is.

I think the most courageous person in the history is Martin Luther King Jr. He continuously pursued his dreams. His enthusiastic speeches had a great impact on lots of people. He tried hard to make his dream come true, and also encouraged people to pursue their dreams. Also, he wanted to make this world a better place, where everyone regardless of race or color, can enjoy the equal rights. Most importantly, he did all this at risk, and eventually he was assassinated.

I think Martin Luther King Jr. is a model of being courageous, but he is not the only one. There are a lot of people in the world that are courageous. They risk their lives to pursue their dreams. They deserve to be remembered.

RAFT civil war

Hey,
Today I am going to write a journal from General Lee's horse's perspective to General Lee about what they have seen.

April 9 1965
Dear General Lee,
Our army has been surrounded in Richmond for a while now. We are outnumbered and we could take it no longer. You went to Appomattox Court House this morning to surrender. I know how you feel, and I am sharing your grief. I was trying to comfort you, but I cannot talk. You are the bravest master I've ever known. I have never regretted to serve for you. I am willing to die for you and for our beloved Virginia. The good thing is, now the slaves are free, and the war is over. We could go home and live peacefully through the rest of our lives. Yesterday is probably the last time I fought with you. The war has lasted about five years. I sacrificed my youth in the battlefields. I am really glad I could fight with you. My life has not been wasted.

Sincerely,
Traveller

Justice

Hey there,

What two factors that aid justice? What two factors impede justice?

I think two factors that aid justice are human conscience and laws. The laws help to force justice to be achieved. However in certain situations justice could not be done with the power of laws. I think human conscience could also decide whether justice is achieved. For example, before the Civil War, the Northerners did not follow the law to catch the fugitives but followed their conscience, which helped justice to be done.

I think two factors that impede justice are people's bad opinions and private interests. During the Holocaust, most people believed that the holocaust is right just because the impact of other people's opinions. Also in TKAM racism is a common disease, so most people perceived racism as a natural fact. I think private interest could impede justice because sometimes people would think their own interests are more important than public interests, which lead to injustice.

Being a Witness

Good morning guys,

What does being a witness mean?

Witness means a person who sees a crime. In the Museum of Tolerance, my understanding of being a witness transformed. Being a witness also means responsibility. It means the responsibility to let people know the truth of a crime. It means to tell the unprejudiced truth. A person who was told the truth by a witness could also be a witness to the crime. Through my experience in LA, I have become a witness of the Holocaust.

My Time Capsule

Hello guys,
Today I am gonna talk about what I would put into my time capsule.

First I would put in a photo of my family, because I've spent a lot of time with my family and they make me a better person. Then I would put in Spring Festival couplets as a symbol of China. Also Spring Festival is a time when people are reunited with their family and relatives. I don't know what I will accomplish. I just hope I enjoy my life, and I hope I can travel a lot. Therefore I hope I can put in my wonderful collection of different coins from many countries. To represent my legacy, I hope I can put in a letter from my descendant or a stranger, and that letter says that what I have done has helped him or her. I wish I would leave something for the world. I would put all these things in a music box, because I loved music box when I was little.

The North Star

Hello my amazing readers,

The North Star is a motif that deepens the theme of hope in the Glory Field. Through the North Star, the Southern slaves could see the freedom and happiness.

For me, the stars bring me peace and joy. Somehow the stars make me think of the time when I was really little, when the stars were shining bright and the air was fresh. Stars sometimes calm me down, and remind me that there is always something to hope for.
